The World Patient’s Safety Day event was held on September 17th at Sancta Maria Hospital Umuaka, focusing on promoting personal hygiene and antenatal care among pregnant women. Organized by Mrs. Immaculate Uche and facilitated by Dr. Chinonso Fabian, the event was attended by 50 pregnant women, achieving full participation.
The session began with a prayer and welcome addresses, setting a warm and purposeful tone. The health talk covered essential topics such as the meaning, types, and importance of personal hygiene, along with the critical role of antenatal care. The facilitator encouraged active participation, and attendees engaged enthusiastically by asking questions and sharing personal experiences.
Participants expressed heartfelt appreciation for the event, noting its emotional and educational impact. In support of their pregnancy journey, the organizers distributed 100 birthing kits, 50 toothbrushes, and 50 tubes of toothpaste. Refreshments were also provided, contributing to a positive atmosphere.
Prior community mobilization ensured strong turnout through advocacy visits, phone calls, and text reminders. The venue was well-prepared with clean surroundings and comfortable seating.

The event successfully met its goals, with full attendance, high engagement, and positive feedback. To further improve future programs, it was recommended to expand outreach using social media, local leaders, and community posters. The event concluded after 3 hours and 15 minutes, leaving participants informed, supported, and appreciative.
