The World Malaria and Environmental Day event was held at Sancta Maria Hospital, starting at 10:00 a.m. with a prayer from students. Mrs. Nnenna Otte welcomed attendees and shared insights on malaria prevention and treatment. Dr. Fabian Nonso delivered an informative health talk on malaria transmission, prevention, and the importance of seeking treatment from health facilities. Participants engaged in a community clean-up to promote environmental hygiene, followed by malaria testing 51 individuals were tested, with 4 positive cases referred for treatment. All attendees received mosquito repellents, anti-malaria medication, and refreshments. Community members expressed sincere appreciation during post-event interviews.
The program was well-organized with successful community mobilization and exceeded its target attendance. Recommendations include expanding outreach through social media and local leaders to boost participation. The event concluded at 1:09 p.m., leaving participants informed and motivated.
